In June 2018 I was assigned with documenting the aftermath of the alleged murder and rape of a 14-year-old girl by an asylum seeker in Wiesbaden, Germany.

I spent the weekend following the discovery of the body revisiting the crime scene and other places connected to the crime trying to provide a calm and gentle view on the aftermath in a time of heated discussions about immigration and the instrumentalisation of crimes allegedly committed by foreigners through far-right organizations.

In June 2018 I was assigned with documenting the aftermath of the alleged murder and rape of a 14-year-old girl by an asylum seeker in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Together with the editors at DIE ZEIT and an amazing team of journalists in the field we made a conscious decision to keep a visual distance from the case and to refrain from photographing the young peers of the victim and the murderer. I spent the weekend following the discovery of the body revisiting the crime scene and other places connected to the crime trying to provide a calm and gentle view on the aftermath in a time of heated discussions about immigration and the instrumentalisation of crimes allegedly committed by foreigners through far-right organizations.
